Smallmouth bass fishing takes place around Michigan waters, including Woman Lake, Cedar River, Rifle River, and Black River. Black River is popular for its brook trout, yet smallmouth bass fluid certain areas.

Smallmouth bass are often attracted by lures during spring, which is the spawning season. Open fall is another good time to catch smallmouth bass.
